Faucet Options For Bathroom Vanities

When deciding to update your bathroom vanity one of the most important components can be a faucet. Cheap, poorly made, faucets rarely last very long as they tend to leak and don’t have replaceable components. This article will discuss different types of faucets made for bathroom vanities and a few space-saving options to help the functionality of your bathroom sink.

The typical faucet is mounted through holes in your sink with large gland nuts holding it in from the bottom. This isn’t the only option available today. Vessel sinks are all the rage and the faucet could actually be mounted in the back splash or on the wall. These types of faucets make cleanup easier as they are not on the sink surface. Obviously special plumbing is required for these faucets making them one of the most expensive options available. Unless you are very handy and have a working knowledge of plumbing, framing, sheet rock, and tile work this type of faucet is probably better left to the professional.

Another popular option is to mount the faucet on the counter top, making the sink a clean vessel as well. This is a good compromise as the plumbing is similar to a sink mounted faucet. Holes will still need to be drilled into the counter top surface to accommodate the new faucet. Normally the faucets are deep enough to handle the extra thickness of the counter top. Another concern with this type of mounting of the faucet is to make sure it is sealed well against the counter top to prevent any leaking under the cabinet. With these first two types of faucets you must purchase a sink without any pre-drilled holes. This could be a vessel style, under the counter, or on top of the counter sink.

There is nothing wrong with the standard sink mounted faucet and they are the most common to purchase. There are many sizes and styles available on any of these faucets but the sink mounted faucet is probably going to be the cheapest. You can still spend a lot of money on these faucets for a quality unit and your money would be well spent. You can get them in single handle or double handle configuration, the faucet spout can be high or low, and the material of the faucet can be brass, copper, chrome, satin, and several other finishes are available. Whichever style you choose try to match the surrounding decor of your existing fixtures.
